Kya's Swine Flu Update - Day 1

We are at the hospital with Kya, she's positive for the swine flu.

She started having a really difficult time coughing and her airways were really tight. So we opted to bring her to the hospital. After we spent 4 hours down stairs in the E.R. she got admitted to the Peds Intermediate Care, we were not upstairs but 2 hours and she started to crash. So they moved her to the ICU.

She's stable right now, but we are still waiting to see if she can stay off the ventilator. She is using about 20 liters of oxygen (about 10 times her normal useage) and breathing really hard and with all the meds and continual breathing treatments she is only keeping her blood oxygen Sats below 85 (which is bad by the way) The lowest I've seen her drop down today is into the 50's and that looks about 2 shades pinker than a corpse! Scary stuff. If she keeps up this pace she will wear herself out and they will have to put her on the ventilator so she can rest in order to recover from the illness.

I'm feeling like she'll show some improvement soon, her demeaner seems to be improving.
